Carl Nielson is the developer of the Career Coaching for Students™ program. His journey started when he changed majors in college. Realizing Pre-Med wasn't the direction he wanted to go and not knowing what to do, he took some electives at the recommendation of his college counselor.
He took a class on industrial and organizational psychology and knew he had found his passion. He still wasn't sure what it was all about or what careers were available. Upon graduation, he began looking for and secured his first job in the field of human resources management in 1979. After 18 successful years in human resources management, Carl set out to provide organizational and management consulting services. He established The Nielson Group, a national management consulting practice that grew to include clients of all sizes in the USA, Canada and India.
Carl also found himself coaching students as an extension of his adult career coaching services. "I'd wrap up a career transition coaching program with someone and they'd asked if I could do the same thing for their son or daughter (usually a college student who didn't know what career direction to take). The requests kept coming. I knew I needed to do something. Based on my market research and parent feedback, what students were receiving in school or through the marketplace just wasn't enough." Thus, the birth of Career Coaching for Students™, the program. Today, Career Coaching for Students™ is provided by coaches throughout the United States and other countries.
